The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort has a few table-service restaurants. If you’re looking for some quality sit-down American fare, the Plaza Restaurant just might be your jam.

If hitting up Walt Disney World Resort is something you’re doing in your travels, planning is key. What restaurants and other attractions are you going to gravitate to? The Plaza Restaurant is a great spot in the Magic Kingdom that offers a selection that’s likely to appeal to even the most picky of palates.

About the Plaza Restaurant

Advertised at casual American dining, the Plaza is not a bad option for most.
“Step inside this charming casual dining parlor awash in a sophisticated elegance with a menu the whole family will enjoy,” notes the Plaza Restaurant webpage. “Whether it’s a mouthwatering lunch or a family dinner with decadent desserts, you’ll discover something for everyone in an atmosphere of early 20th-century style — featuring Art Nouveau touches, beautifully embellished light fixtures, stunning decorative mirrors and an inviting solarium.”

The Plaza is a quaint location that’s not overly packed with tables. Guests are comfortably seated and have a good view through the spacious windows out onto the patio.

A special place in our hearts
My eldest travel companion and I first dined at the Plaza Restaurant in 2010. It was our first trip to a WDW park together. We hit Townhall to see about getting a reservation to any restaurant that day. Trent, a friendly cast member from Louisiana, found and recommended the Plaza. Thank you, Trent — you’re the bomb, wherever you are.
Truth be told, we had not returned to the Plaza since our most recent trip to WDW in November 2025.
What’s the offerings?

As noted, buckle up for some American dining. There’s a multitude of handhelds as well as platted fork-and-knife dishes. Beyond the standard menu, there’s also the allergy-friendly menu — which seems to be a copy of the menu but allergy friendly (shocking).

Our trip to the Plaza Restaurant

When we visited in November 2025, we snagged a reservation at the Plaza to change things up a bit. We’re fans of hitting up Skipper’s Canteen — well, I’m a fan of Skippers. My travel companions are 50/50 on that. But, we decided to head back to the Plaza for our one civilized sit-down meal of the day.
We went for lunch and it was a nice break from the hustle of the park. The appetizer we ended up ordering was a crab and cheese dip. This offering is on and off the menu with WDW cycling out the option. At the time of writing this review, the pretzel and cheese appetizer is not on the menu.
Crab and cheese dip appetizer

This was a nice treat. We’re suckers for pretzels and cheese dips of any kind, so this was a win-win.
Guilty confession though, while WDW is known for their Mickey pretzels, the best theme park pretzel my roommates and I have gotten to date is at Universal Islands of Adventure at the Universal Orlando Resort. True story.

Disney, if you’re reading this, there’s room where you can step up your game in the pretzel department. Universal, if you’re reading this kudos! on making an awesome pretzel!

The bacon cheeseburger

The bacon cheeseburger was great. While my BMI and waistline might say I don’t have a discerning palate, which I really don’t, the last couple of years I’ve been on a burger craze. Don’t ask me why, but expect to see more and more burgers.

The burger was tasty and juicy. What else could you ask for? They delivered my sandwich cooked to the desired temperature and all was good in the world.

Pot roast stack

This was a way out of left field choice for the eldest of my roommates. I don’t know what she was thinking.
Maybe we’re in a role reversal, because she used to be much pickier about foods she ate. Although, there have been some questionable times where she wanted to order fish at a diner — which, that can be risky!

The pot roast was moist and flavorful. I had a little smackeral of a bite. My travel companion seemed to have enjoyed it too.
Kids turkey sandwich

There’s not a lot to say about what my junior adventurer got. It was a sad looking turkey sandwich with cheese. Look at it, it is sad looking. I don’t know if there’s anything else one can do to make it more exciting.

For side options, the spunkiest of my roommates got a salad and grapes.

Things went south
Things went south quickly with our youngest’s meal. Not too far into the turkey sandwich, it all came up. Yup, he puked right into his plate. Filled it up. There was no warning other than the split second before he burst, his eyes went crossed. By the time that happens, I know we’re past the point of no return and must just brace for impact.

It came out like a fountain.
After he was done with the first wave of vomiting, my two roommates headed off to the restroom to make sure it was all out and to clean up a little. I covered the plate with a napkin like nothing happened, and asked the waitress to just dump it out.

The staff was not happy at all — as I would not expect them to be. But, to be fair, we kept everything contained and did not make a scene. At this juncture in my life, when he pops, he pops.
Ironically, the junior adventurer’s aunt, when she was a kid, had puking issues too. She once puked in her dinner plate in the Oak Room at the Plaza Hotel in New York City in the 80s. Dad took a napkin, covered it up, and had the wait staff take it away. History does repeat itself — apparently at Plazas.
Overall experience

I loved my food and did not let a little vomit ruin my meal. Junior, whelp, we’ll just chalk that one up to a big “L.” My older roommate, aside from maybe a little embarrassment — she’s getting immune to the embarrassment factor as we’re becoming seasoned parents — she did seem to enjoy her meal.
Our waitress wasn’t the best, and that’s from before the vomiting situation. Post-vomit, she was definitely not a happy camper or attentive server, but that’s okay. $hit — vomit — happens.
Would we go back? I would. My recommendation for my junior adventurer would be to stay away from the turkey sandwich. He’s on the cusp of needing an adult meal anyhow, which we have to do at some restaurants. WDW might be on the docket for needing adult meals for him in the near future.
My next task is convincing the fairer of my roommates of when we’re going to head to the house of the mouse in 2026. I’m pretty sure that “this is going to happen.”
