Quality eyewear that’s comfortable, practical, and protective is important. We donned a pair of Striker X1 Tactical polarized sunglasses and are pretty impressed. They’re lightweight, sleek, stylish, and fairly affordable.

Truth be told, we stumbled upon the Striyker X1 aviator sunglasses on social media. Those targeted advertisements every so often turn up something worth buying. Not sure if these were just going to be another cheap gimmick, we waited until they were on sale and pounced on them.

The Striyker X1 Series glasses

The Striykers sunglasses are aviators with a modern twist. The frames are made of lightweight aluminium. “Ultra-light aluminum mag-alloy frame for optimal comfort and durability,” is how the webpage describes them. The arms on the glasses are padded with rubber to reduce stress on the face. Beyond reducing facial stress, the rubber gives the glasses a little grip, reducing the possibility of slipping off the face.

Arms on the X1 Series are also spring actuated. They’ll easily pop open and close. The spring action also allows for them to over extend upon opening. The ability for the glasses arms to open up beyond a 90 degree perpendicular helps accommodate more robust and full faces.

The tactical glasses and ANSI rating

X1 glasses are advertised to be so-called “tactical,” but what makes them tactical? For starters, Striyker states that the glasses meet the ANSI Z87+ impact rating. Having a Z87+ rating would make these a perfect candidate for shooting glasses and any other activity that requires eyewear with protective properties.

The Z87+ rating on these glasses in particular is very interesting. Most “+” rated protective eyewear are more wrap-around style, rather than having those side areas open to possible hazards.

Visual acuity

The lenses on the X1 glasses are really nice. It usually takes a bit of time to get used to a new set of lenses. However, these came without much of a curve, feeling natural the whole time.

Lenses are advertised as polarized and after taking a peek into a body of water, I was able to confirm the quality of the polarization. Some fish at the local reservoir were easily seen beneath the sun-kissed water.

What’s really nice about the quality of the lenses is there’s no eye fatigue after prolonged use.

The quick and dirty

Pluses: Comfortable. Lightweight. Stylish. Durable.

Minuses: The MSRP price is a little weighty, however they’re still competitively priced in comparison to more luxury brands.

Overall the Striyker X1 Series glasses are worth a shot. If you’re in the market for a new take on an old design, these X1 glasses fit the bill. The X1s have that classic aviator design made with modern materials. Would we recommend these glasses? Absolutely. Especially if you can gank these sleek units at a discount. Considering the prices we’ve seen, we’d recommend getting them via Amazon, but if you prefer, you can get the X1s directly from Striyker.
