Great Wolf Lodge locations are family entertainment indoor water parks. Operating under Great Wolf Resorts, Inc., there are 12 locations, with the newest and largest being the Perryville, Maryland property.
We previously visited Great Wolf Lodge Poconos this time last year, as well as the Williamsburg location, and have been greatly impressed with the quality that GWL puts into their product offerings. As far as indoor water parks paired with lodging and family entertainment, Great Wolf Lodge Resorts, Inc. has the formula down. These are great travel destinations.
Planning your visit and making the best of your stay
When we visited the Perryville, Maryland Great Wolf Lodge, we got in on a sale and did not pay full price. This is absolutely key when trying to plan a visit to GWL if you’re worried about keeping your trip affordable.
Last year’s Poconos stay, we capitalized on one of their annual sales to help defray the cost – the Poconos review goes into more detail on that particular sale. The GWL website for an individual location will list any possible sales or deals that they’re currently running.
What’s important to know about a GWL visit is that when you have a reservation, you’re able to check in – even if your room is not yet ready – and use the water park for the entire day. You’re also able to stay the entire day on the day that you check out of your room.
Great Wolf Lodge Maryland notes this on their FAQ page:
Check-in time begins at 4 p.m. or as rooms become available. However, you are welcome to play in the water park as early as it opens. In the event that your room is not ready, we recommend that you pack a smaller bag with bathing suits and swim gear and leave the rest of your luggage locked in your car. Stop by the front desk to let us know you’re here and pick up your water park wrist bands. There are lockers, showers, and changing areas available for your use in the water park. We require guest checking in to be at least 21 years of age. A valid, Government Issued Photo ID is required upon check-in along with credit card for incidental charges. Your card will be authorized for a daily amount on your reservation if you would like to allow charging on your reservation.
For us, we got in fairly early, not wasting much time, and got to capitalize on using the water park the day of arrival. We kept our swim suits and necessities for the park in a separate bag and used the locker room to get changed into our swim gear.
Conversely, the day of departure, we checked out of our room, but continued to use the water park afterwards. When we were done, we ended up showering in the locker rooms, and spent the rest of the afternoon and evening capitalizing on the other entertainment options – which there’s a lot of.
The Perryville location
Great Wolf Lodge Perryville resorts opened in the summer of 2023. On an information page, Great Wolf Lodge notes that the property is their “20th resort in North America, and [their] largest!” They further state that they have “700 family-friendly suites and a 126,000-square-foot indoor water park, [and] this expansive space will have something for everyone.”
The main lobby and entrance
Walking into the Great Wolf Lodge Perryville resort will wow most visitors. The main lobby is capped with a large fireplace and flanking it would be the reception desk and their branded store, the “Buckhorn Exchange Gift Shop.” The lobby is huge and impressive.
That main area acts as a central artery. It leads to the aforementioned reception desk and the Buckhorn Exchange Gift Shop. The lobby area also houses the Freshwoods Market – a 24-hour food/snack shop, and the Barnwood restaurant.
After the restaurant and elevator bank, the lobby transitions into a corridor leading to the rest of the entertainment options in an area known as “Adventure Park,” terminating at the water park.
A different design
The Perryville location differs from the other two locations we’ve visited in the past in several ways.
All of the “activities,” the food offerings, and the water park are all on one level. There was no need for up and down, or running about the property to access different amenities. This came in handy when playing MagiQuest, as there was no running up and down stairs in order to advance in the game.
The “hotel” aspect of the property is separate from the “play” areas. There’s a whole bank of elevators – nine of them – servicing the floors, with enough to keep up with any high traffic times. The Williamsburg and Poconos locations have significantly less rooms to deal with, but there was only one elevator to cover the four floors. Perryville nailed it by having enough elevators.
The “Wolf Den Suite”
Just like our stay in the Poconos last year, this year we got a “Wolf Den Suite.” Since our party consisted of myself and my two roommates, one of which is a junior adventurer – or pup in this case – we didn’t need a whole lot of room. However, the themed suites are a nice touch, and the younger roommate really gets a kick out of the bunk beds and separate den area.
The Wolf Den sleeps up to six and has a queen sized bed, a bunk bed in the den, and a full sized sleeper sofa. The room also came with a TV, full sized bath, hair drier, mini-fridge, and single serve coffee maker.
There was one thing that was a bit different from what was offered in the Poconos that I noticed. The actual den area with the bunk beds did not have its own TV, whereas the Poconos location did. This was not a break it moment. We were there for the water park and other entertainment options. However, having a TV for the little ones is nice for wind down time at the end of the day.
The room was clean and in great condition. Since the Perryville location – at the time of our visit – was the newest location, there really was not that much wear on anything on the property. Everything was well maintained and tidy across the resort.
Other suites and rooms
Suites and rooms are broken up into three categories: standard, themed, and premium. As mentioned, the Wolf Den is one of the themed offerings at the property.
All of the suites list having TVs, a mini-fridge, a hair dryer, and full baths.
Somehow the coffee maker only made it on the list of features of the Junior Cabin and Deluxe Suites. However, our Wolf Den did have a coffee maker. Whether or not you’ll get a coffee maker in your room is up in the air. If this is going to be a deal breaker for you, maybe call to check with guest services about your particular room’s amenities. It’s quite possible that they’re just not listed for each room type – it is 2024, and not having a coffee maker in suite would be rather barbaric.
The standard family suite 1 bedroom – 1 bath (Up to 6 guests)
There are four different themed suites, each with some differences in their options.
- KidCabin Suite: 1 bedroom – 1 bath (Up to 7 guests)
- Wolf Den Suite (Standard): 1 bedroom – 1 bath (Up to 6 guests)
- Wolf Pup Den Suite (Accessible Bathtub): 1 bedroom – 1 bath (Up to 5 guests)
- Junior Cabin Suite (Accessible Bathtub): 1 bedroom – 1 bath (Up to 4 guests)
There are six different Deluxe/Premium suite offerings at the Great Wolf Lodge Perryville location. All of the Deluxe rooms have two bedrooms and two baths.
- Deluxe KidCabin Suite (Standard): 2 bedrooms – 2 baths (Up to 13 guests)
- Deluxe Junior KidCabin Suite (Accessible Bathtub): 2 bedrooms – 2 baths (Up to 10 guests)
- Deluxe Wolf Den Suite (Standard): 2 bedrooms – 2 baths (Up to 12 guests)1 Bunk bed
- Deluxe Wolf Pup Den (Accessible Shower): 2 bedrooms – 2 baths (Up to 11 guests)
- Grizzly Bear Suite: 2 bedrooms – 2 baths (Up to 8 guests)
- Deluxe Queen KidCabin Suite (Accessible Bathtub): 2 bedrooms – 2 baths (Up to 12 guests)
Attraction passes
Great Wolf Lodge offers three different attraction passes. The beauty of an attraction pass is that it bundles most of the ancillary attractions for a price that would be cheaper than experiencing the items a la carte. There’s the “Wolf Pass,” “Paw Pass,” and “Pup Pass.”
We opted for the Wolf Pass, like we did at Great Wolf Lodge Poconos. There was one big difference we noticed between the Perryville and Poconos Wolf Passes, and a couple smaller ones. The Poconos’ pass is about $15.00 more and includes a “Build a Bear animal (outfit not included).”
To be honest, I was a little miffed that after buying the pass I noticed there was no Build-A-Bear included. I don’t know why the passes are not standardized between the locations, but they’re not.
The Pup Pass at the Perryville location does have the Build-A-Bear, but the Wolf Pass also includes the ropes course – an attraction that’s outdoors at the Pocono location and not included with their pass. Also absent from the Perryville pass versus the Poconos pass is a “Leather Treaty wristband.”
Since our visit last year, the Pocono pass added Oliver’s Mining to the inclusions on their Wolf Pass, something absent from the Perryville’s pass.
At the time of publication, the Wolf Pass costs $84.99 and included the following:
- One MagiQuest game
- Choice of Vellara Wand, standard Wand Mod, or Magi belt
- One small Great Wolf Lodge Candy Shop candy cup
- One game of bowling at Ten Paw Alley
- One Paw Points game card for Northern Lights Arcade ($5)
- One climb on the Howler’s Peak Ropes Course
- One admission to Moonstone Mine
- One single scoop of ice cream from Woods End Creamery
- One round of Howl-in-One Mini Golf
We did everything on that list and then some.
The main thing is, know what the passes include before purchasing them. Clearly, they’re different from location to location. We ended up doing the Build-A-Bear and Oliver’s Mining a la carte during our stay in Perryville. If you’re looking to maximize your time and savings at the GWL locations, do look into the passes.
A note on water parks
To date, we’ve visited three Great Wolf Lodge properties and so far, none of them have disappointed. While the Perryville location is the newest and biggest, the Poconos location is a solid contender, having just come out of renovations last year.
As far as indoor water parks go, these parks have some of the best overall experiences and attractions. The Dream Works water park at the American Dream Mall in N.J. might be the biggest indoor water park in the country – if not the world – and have some great attractions, but they don’t have lodging nor the other entertainment options of Great Wolf Lodge Resorts.
In the last year and a half, we’ve been to six different indoor water parks and two outdoor parks. GWL locations are ones that we’ll continue to explore. We thoroughly enjoy the brand.
The Great Wolf Lodge Perryville property was clean and well maintained.
There are 19 independent water attractions at the GWL Perryville location. Those attractions include two outdoor attractions; a pool and “hot springs.” There are eight body slides, two family raft rides, a two person tube bowl style slide, a single person tube slide, and a set of four mat racers slides.
Changing/rest rooms
As with previous Great Wolf Lodge locations, the Perryville, Maryland spot has changing/rest rooms within the water park. Guests who are coming in off the street, or are in need of showering and changing prior to leaving, can do so in the spacious combined restrooms with shower/changing areas. The showers are private and allow for guests to be able to wash up and change without being exposed to other guests.
Lockers are available
Most water parks, theme parks, and family entertainment venues have locker banks for guests. Great Wolf Lodge has a system in place where guests can rent lockers for a full day. There’s an automated system – that comes with some challenges – that overall does work smoothly. When a guest is finished with their locker for the day, they can press and hold a button that’ll release it back into inventory for use.
Towel service
Guests who are visiting Great Wolf Lodge locations are able to use their complementary towel service. If you’re a guest, the number of towels you take will be linked to your room, and charges can be incurred if they’re not returned. The towel service is great, because this is one less thing to worry about when preparing for your trip. Most other locations we’ve visited don’t have this service and this is a great perk.
The water park is well balanced and had plenty of attractions
Walking through the doors of the Great Wolf Lodge Perryville water park, you’ll first encounter to your left a store – Paddle Bay Outfitters – and towel service. And to your right, an eatery. In front of you would be the seating area that hugs the waterline of the wave pool and one of the children’s play areas.
From that central entrance, going further to the left, visitors will find the locker rooms, the pool with basketball hoops, a lazy river, the water obstacle course, some water slides, and a bar area. Going to the right, you’ll pass an eatery, wave pool, the water fort, and some more water slides.
Otter Cave Waterworks
The Otter Cave Waterworks is one of the iconic water park playgrounds. These water fortresses are usually really awesome, have some slides for the smaller kids, and generally entertain. “Explore all the levels splash-crazy fun in the best water fort treehouse you’ve ever seen,” the GWL description notes. “Delight in the interactive water toys and kid-activated splash features.”
Slap Tail Pond
Slap Tail Pond is another attraction that’s at most water parks, and certainly at the GWL locations I’ve visited. “Surf’s up! Catch a wave and splash and play as the swells sweep in from the five-foot deep end to the zero-depth-entry shallows,” is stated on the page for Slap Tail Pond. “Wave pools are a fun family vacation favorite for kids of all ages.” Listen for the howling wolf as an indicator for when the waves are going to start.
I personally love wave pools and had a blast bobbing up and down with my travel companions off and on throughout our visit.
Crooked Creek
Lazy rivers are some of my favorite attractions. Crooked Creek is a nice meandering lazy river and there was no lack of tubes. Oftentimes lazy rivers get bogged down with too much traffic and there’s not enough tubes to go around. That wasn’t the case with Crooked Creek. I’d have to say I divided a good deal of time during my visit between Crooked Creek, Slap Tail Pond, and Chinook Cove.
“Throw away your troubles and dream a little dream as you float down the lazy river with your friends and family,” is how Crooked Creek is described by Great Wolf Lodge. “Relax into a nice groove as you allow the gentle current to carry you along for as long as you like.”
My only complaint about Crooked Creek is I don’t feel it’s deep enough. Now, GWL Maryland is not special on this, as I don’t think any of the lazy rivers out there are deep enough. This is really not a shot at GWL, and just a personal preference.
Chinook Cove
Anytime there’s a basketball play area in water parks, things get real. Chinook Cove is no different than any other water park that has a basketball area. Playing in these types of areas gives a total mix of anarchy and fun. We spent a fair amount of time testing our skills at the cove and really did have a blast.
“Swim, laugh and splash all day with basketball play. Let your imagination run wild as you practice your hook shots, free throws and rebounds,” GWL entices us to participate in shooting hoops. “Everybody loves water basketball, so you’re sure to go into overtime in this pool of family fun.”
A note about little kids. Depending on the age and size of your pups, this area can get intimidating. If you have a particularly scrappy six or seven-year-old, they might be able to hold their own catching rebounds. As a point of caution, you – or another adult – might have to step in to be the rebound coach, making sure everyone gets their fair share of time shooting hoops.
Big Foot Pass
I always pass on attractions like Big Foot Pass, but that’s because my age and BMI are pretty close to the same number. But, for travelers and adventurers that are not bogged down by bulbous body baggage, these obstacle courses are fun and challenging.
“Balance and sway as you get under way! Giant, floating lily pads and cargo nets invite your wolf pups to a sweet aqua adventure that builds dexterity and strength while offering soft, warm water landings,” is what’s said about Big Foot Pass.
There’s some entertainment value to watching your little ones persevere, and maybe more so fail, at traversing these types of challenges. Depending on your parenting style, you might find yourself chuckling and shouting, “wipe out” or “fail,” as determined pups try to hop across the water obstacle course. Or, just shout those plain vanilla “you got this” words of encouragement.
The water slides
There’s a pile of great water slides at the Perryville location. As noted earlier, there are racers, tube rides, family raft rides, and more.
The most notable, in my opinion, was the Wolf Tail. The Wolf Tail is a trapdoor, freefall, water slide. The attraction appears to be a ProSlide SkyBOX. If you’ve never experienced a trapdoor style water slide, it’s an absolute must! It’s important to note that the attraction has a 300 lb weight limit. While I’m a full figured male, I was able to squeak on by and experience this thrilling slide. Aside from the first 20 feet seeming to be a full freefall, it’s the anticipation of when the slide operator will push the button to drop out the floor, releasing the guest, that gives this slide some extra thrills.
Similar ride systems will launch at 60, 70, or 80 degrees. It’s not known what the Wolf Tail is set for, however it seems like it’s an 80 degree model.
“A thrill-seekers [sic] delight. Guests step into a launch pod and listen to the rhythmic sound of a heartbeat as they wait for the floor to drop out from underneath, hurling them into a nearly vertical, 20-foot free fall, followed immediately by two 360-degree, high-speed loops,” a press release described the attraction.
The video embedded below is of a SkyBOX slide. This is just a generic promo video from ProSlide, not the attraction featured at GWL Perryville.
The rest of the water slides are as follows:
- Coyote Canyon – Bowl-style tube slide
- Otter Slides ‘N Falls – Small body slides suitable for most pups
- High Paw Holler – Fast-paced body slide
- Forest Flume – Body slide is “the longest Twister slide that…ProSlide has installed in… Maryland.”
- Chesapeake Plunge – Family-style raft slide
- River Canyon Run – Family-style raft slide
- Otter Run – Body slide
- Mountain Edge Raceway – Mat racer slide
- Rapid Racer – Tube slide
Private cabanas
There are a number of semi-private cabanas within the water park. They seem to be comfortable and offer a small group a great place to make a mini headquarters. The prices for the cabanas are not listed, and to reserve one, guests need to call in to make reservations.
In water park food and beverage
While you’re spending time in the water park, there’s a couple of locations where you can get refreshments. There’s Timbers and The Watering Hole. We did not avail ourselves to the services of The Watering Hole, however we did get some food from Timbers.
Timbers has a rather standard fare menu consisting of burgers, chicken fingers, veggie burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, fries, onion rings, etc. To place an order, there are digital kiosks, and there’s an electronic board letting guests know the status of their orders.
We did have lunch at Timbers and had no issues with our food selections.
Timbers is also accessible from outside the water park in the Adventure Park area of the resort.
Impressions on the water park
We spent from late morning the day of check-in at the water park, until early evening in the park. The following day, we got in line to hit the park at open, and we stayed until past lunch. Our overall experiences in the water park were very positive. The attractions were great and everything was in good condition.
Getting into the park at the opening was the right idea. We got to capitalize on really short lines on all of the in demand slides. Our little pup got to hit the Wolf Trail trapdoor water slide five or six times in a row in fast succession. Going early was a big win and we were able to spend plenty of time hitting the stuff that normally has long lines.
After we had our fill of the slides and more exciting attractions, we played some water basketball, hit the wave pool, and naturally waded in the lazy river.
The Buckhorn Exchange
The Buckhorn Exchange is the Great Wolf Lodge branded gift shop. All the GWL locations we’ve visited have Buckhorn Exchanges with a ton of nice swag. Each destination has a good selection of site-specific – to that location – gear, as well as generic Great Wolf Lodge wares.
Featured at the Perryville location are different t-shirts, drinkware, and everything in between. Also, don’t forget to get your complementary wolf ears from the Buckhorn.
In the Buckhorn Exchange is where the Great Wolf Candy Company is located. If you’re looking to fill your sweet tooth needs, the Candy Company has a whole slew of selections available.
The other thing that’s unique to the Buckhorn Exchanges that we’ve visited is the inclusion of Build-A-Bear Workshops. Guests can get GWL themed Build-A-Bear’s at the resorts. We ended up with a second addition to our GWL Build-A-Bear family, Oliver Raccoon.
The licensed Build-A-Bears include some MagiQuest inspired stuffies as well as members of the “Great Wolf Pack;” Wiley Wolf, Violet Wolf, Brinley Bear, Oliver Raccoon, or Gammy Squirrel.
Barnwood
The Barnwood restaurant at GWL Maryland is the perfect place to enjoy some quality table service dining. Within the restaurant is a full service bar, as well as there being ample seating for guests.
Food selections at the Barnwood go beyond your run-of-the-mill “clown burgers” or “crispy Colonel fun baskets.” This is finer dining with eclectic and unique selections.
When we dined at the Barnwood for dinner, everyone in our party of 9 enjoyed their meals. Our party got a little bit of everything; handhelds, steaks, salads, and a plethora of appetizers.
More on the rest of the dining locations below.
Adventure Park
The Adventure Park area of the resort is pretty much where all the entertainment is, some of your quick bites options, and at the end of the corridor is where the water park is.
Personally, I love the way the property is laid out, with everything on one floor. My eldest roommate, she begs to differ, preferring I guess, running up and down stairs during MagiQuest games, or waiting in long lines for the only elevator on the property. I like the feel of how it’s all positioned because I feel like I’m walking down an indoor downtown area.
Eldest roommate, you can like what you like. But I’m going to enjoy not being afflicted with a bad case of the chafe as I’m trying to find the next hidden clue while going up/down stairs all night during an epic MagiQuest game.
Dining
Outside of the Freshwoods Market, Barnwood, and Timbers, there are a number of other places to score a bite and they are in the Adventure Park area. One thing to consider is getting one of the dining packages that might be available. They’re worth taking a look at depending on your particular needs.
Wood’s End Creamery
The Wood’s End Creamery is GWL’s ice cream shop.
Dunkin’
For guests looking to get their fill of coffee and other treats, there’s a Dunkin’ Donuts at the resort, as there was at the other two GWLs we’ve visited in the past.
Hungry As A Wolf
Visitors looking for pizza or other other options like pasta and salads, Hungry As a Wolf is a quick service location that might fulfill those needs. Why pizza is not offered at the in-water-park restaurant, I don’t know. I think it’s a popular option.
Hungry As A Wolf has a small seating area inside and a seating area on its “porch.”
Campfire Kitchen
While my two roommates were both not having a large appetite that morning, they did find food to satisfy them. There are a number of both hot and cold options and even the pickiest of eaters will find something to eat there.
“Great breakfasts flourish with farm fresh eggs, applewood smoked bacon, signature wolf waffles, and organic yogurts, granolas, fresh fruits, and berries,” is how GWL Perryville describes the dining experience.
MagiQuest
MagiQuest has been brought up several times through this review, and for good reason. It’s an awesome immersive game that’ll take gamers throughout the property in search of “items.” At the Perryville, Maryland location, the entire game is on the main floor. At the Poconos and Williamsburg locations, the gameplay is spread out across four floors of the properties.
We did play MagiQuest at the Perryville resort – as well as the aforementioned properties – and had a blast. There were some elements at the Maryland location that were a little more difficult, but we did make it through the game in a timely fashion. I think the MagiQuest game we played at the Pennsylvania GWL took us over six hours to complete. We did the Perryville MagiQuest in about two.
Players are equipped with a wand – sold separately – and embark on an interactive scavenger hunt. Magi are given tasks to complete and advance by beating the different bosses at the end of stages of the game.
The MagiQuest shop has everything a young – or old – Magi might need in order to have a successful time completing the course.
Ten Paw Alley
The Ten Paw Alley is always a fun place to be. Whenever we’ve visited GWL locations, we would play several games of bowling at the Ten Paw Alley.
“Enjoy bowling for toddlers, teens, and tall ones alike,” Great Wolf Lodge Perryville’s web page describes Ten Paw Alley. “Shorter lanes and smaller bowling balls make this a perfect way to spend time together as a family, whether you’re trying for a perfect game or simply playing for fun. No special shoes required.”
We did play a few rounds, taking advantage of it being included in our pass.
Northern Lights Arcade & Prize Shop
The Northern Lights Arcade is a nice supplemental offering at the resort. I’ve said this in our review of the Poconos location, and I’ll say it again here…We’re from the Jersey Shore area, so we’re in close proximity to a lot of arcades. For there to be an arcade to really impress us, it has to be something special.
As far as family entertainment destinations go, the Northern Lights Arcade has enough to keep most kids occupied and satisfied. There are a bunch of different prizes and plenty of games to play to try and get those tickets.
Howl in One Mini Golf
Mini golf is one of those activities that kids just love. I don’t. I really don’t. Maybe at one point in my life, I was a mini golf fan, but that time has come and gone. That being said, the Howl in One Mini Golf course is sufficient for what it’s there for – to entertain.
I wouldn’t give it a glowing review, nor would I say it was an awful waste of time. It was a decent addition to the park and a good use of the space below the ropes course.
We played a round of mini golf and my little pup had a great time, and that’s all that matters.
Oliver’s Mining Co.
Oliver’s Mining Co. is your typical slouching experience. Guests select a bag and then get to work in the mining area. Wash away the sand and dirt, leaving behind whatever gems you may have scored.
Moonstone Mine
The Moonstone Mine mirror maze is a hoot. I happen to love mirror mazes. Whenever I’m traversing these types of attractions, fellow adventures will quote me back to myself in cadence saying, “Hands in front. Hands in front. Hands in front,” as a mantra. Splash in a few “no runnings” in there for good measure. Call me the safety police.
The mirror maze was a blast and luckily no one in my party ran into a mirror. Ask me why I say “Hands in front” sometime.
Howlers Peak Ropes Course
When visiting other GWL locations, none of the ones we went to had an indoor ropes course. This course looked cool. My roommates both got to experience this attraction.
Fun fact…the information page online says there’s a 300 lb weight limit. However, the posted sign at the property says the weight limit is less than that, 250 I believe. Sadly, my curvealicious stature at the time of our visit met and exceeded that limit. #goals. So, just keep that in mind if you’re planning on getting on this ropes course, ya gotta make the weight and what it says online is contradictory to the posted sign.
“Take your family on an invigorating aerial adventure that will have you balancing on ropes, crossing bridges and climbing through obstacles: all from the safety of a climbing harness,” GWL states. “Our ropes course offers high-flying fun that will elevate your family vacation to a whole new level.”
Another thing to keep in mind about this ropes course is that it only goes one way. Guests get on and do the course from beginning to end, without the ability to back track. Well, you can backtrack, but that requires a worker to come and help you get double-backed and moving against the built-in direction locking devices.
Party Den
All the way towards the end of Adventure Park is the Party Den. There are a number of “group” activity options offered by GWL Perryville. Beyond the Party Den are several ballrooms, and a conference room. The Meetings and Events page has more details on those options.
Our overall experience
The Great Wolf Lodge located in Perryville, Maryland is an epic location and we had an epic stay. The brand really outdid themselves with the quality and magnitude of the property.
Being from the Jersey Shore, as noted earlier, the Maryland location is not that far away from our pack, nor is the Poconos location. If it were up to me, and all I was looking for was a GWL experience without anything else in the surrounding area, I’m advocating for the Perryville location each and every time. I may have to acquiesce to going to the Poconos location because my older roommate, the one that makes most of the decisions – if we’re being honest – might prefer it.
Located at the north-east end of Maryland, the Perryville GWL is under an hour from Baltimore. In reality, if you’re looking to make a big trip out of your stay, Charm City is not too far, and D.C. is just under two hours away.
The construction, upkeep, and operations of this monumental property and high quality indoor water park is something that the Great Wolf Lodge brand should be incredibly proud of.
This location is on my list of places to return to in the future. If you found this review helpful, please check out other theme park and water park reviews here at the site. And, sound off in the comments. Got something to say to us directly? Zap us an email.
