We’re big on family leisure travel and enjoy staying busy with all the “ing” activities. Camping, fishing, hiking, and other outdoor adventures all fit in well with our lifestyle. Granted, we’re not doing any cliffhanging or base jumping, but for folks whose BMIs are dangerously close to their ages, we hold our own.
The way I got acquainted with the NORTIV 8 Men’s Low Top Waterproof Hiking Shoes was simple. I did a search for affordable well-made hiking sneakers and they popped up. Are these suitable for hitting the Appalachian Trail for the entire 2,200 miles? Probably not. But if you’re a through hiker hitting sections in different stretches of time, they may fit your needs.

First impressions
When I first pulled out the NORTIV 8’s I thought they looked a little funny. In fact, when I slipped them on my feet, I felt they looked a little weird then too. It was the shape. Maybe it’s the way they’re manufactured or designed. But that did not take away from the experience.
Other than the shape seeming a little different, they actually are rather handsome looking shoes. Brass tacks, it’s comfort that matters. I have finicky feet and did not have any issues with these hiking shoes at all.
In action
The first time I wore the NORTIV 8 Hiking Shoes was for a day walking around The Big E fair a couple of years ago. The Big E isn’t just any old fair, it’s the largest on the eastern seaboard. That said, there’s a lot of walking and it’s usually a long day. The NORTIV 8’s did not give me any issues at all. Actually, they were quite comfortable.
From that first day wearing them and breaking them in, I wore them for two weeks straight regardless of the occasion. Well, I did not go to any fancy dinners in them, but you know what I mean.
The quick and dirty
Pluses: Affordable. Comfortable. Fairly durable.
Minuses: Not very fashionable.
Overall, these are fairly comfortable hiking sneakers and after wearing them off and on for a couple of years, I can recommend giving them a shot. Just walked around with them shoes on a wet slushy snowy day, my feet are all wet!!! THEY ARE NOT WATERPROOF!!! Why did your article not say that?
